Alfons Hormann: German Business Man and Sports Official

Alfons Hormann was a German businessman and sports official who is best known for his time as the head of the West German Athletics Federation. He was born in Munich, Germany, on October 1st, 1905. After completing his education, he began his career as an accountant. He would eventually move into the business world, becoming very successful. Career:

Hormann first became involved in sports administration in the early 1930s when he was elected to the board of the Bavarian Athletics Association. He would later become the president of this organization. In 1934, he was also elected to the board of directors of the German Athletics Federation. He served as a member of this organization until the Nazis dissolved it in 1938. After the war, He helped to re-establish the German Athletics Federation. He served as its president from 1947 to 1949.

Personal Life:

Hormann was married and had four children. He died on August 26th, 1995, at the age of 89. He was a man of many talents and interests. In addition to his work in business and sports administration, he was also an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hiking and mountaineering and was a member of the German Alpine Club.

Sports Official Dom:

Hormann’s work in sports administration earned him a great deal of respect from his peers. He was often referred to as the “sports officialdom” or the “dean of German sport.” In recognition of his many years of service to the German sports community, He was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1985.

He was a great man who did a lot for his country and community. He was a man of many talents and interests, and he will be missed by all who knew him
