Walk among the wild

What are your thoughts about diversity? Most people perceive it as inborn or something that arises due to age, demography, gender, and ethnicity. But that’s the shallow view about it. There is more to diversity that people need to know.

How Impactful has it Been?

Diversity has been pivotal in steering innovation in various sectors. An excellent example of it is the famous street food in the USA called Tacos el Pastor. It’s among the delicious meals you have probably tasted considering its popularity. Many have believed that it is from Mexico.

Where did Tacos el Pastor Come from?

It originated from the Lebanese who immigrated to Mexico. That enabled them to bring the Arab version of the dish known as shawarma. Their children later began opening their restaurants that specialized mainly in making the dish.

They had combined the Mexican cuisine with the Arabian, resulting in the presently Tacos el Pastor. Following the tale of the dish, you can realize that diversity is beyond what many people perceive it to be. But the critical aspect of it is that it leads to further innovation.

Other types of diversity can arise through education, exposure to a career path, and work experience. According to veteran researcher and scientist Richard DeVaul, smart leaders in various organizations should incorporate new cultures into their organizations.

Doing that will allow new people with top talents to join the organizations and stick to them. Diversity puts any organization that embraces it ahead in terms of competition. That’s because socially diverse environments allow groups to become more innovative and productive. See related link to learn more.

Why Richard has been Pivotal in the Campaign

Richard DeVaul has been an innovative professional over the years. He has decades of experience in the engineering and executive field, thus putting him on the better side of understanding innovation and how it relates to diversity.

Richard advocates for a change in technology and innovation industry. He is a progressive thinker who serves as the founding partner and consulting CTO for HyperSolve. DeVaul graduated from Media Lab at MIT, where he developed a computational graphic design program. He also worked on creating a wearable memory support device for his dissertation.

He led the Calcifer Investigation, where the focus was on futuristic ships and the use of synthetic fuels that were carbon-neutral. His knowledge on various topics such as clean food and water, climate change, as well as advanced machine learning has proved useful.

In an article entitled “Richard DeVaul on Disrupting Innovation Consulting”, Richard DeVaul explains Innovation is about overturning the existing order of things. And while innovation does create great value in the world, that process is not benign. Innovation disrupts.
