Walk among the wild

Vik Bansal is a renowned name in Graph Theory and Operations Research; earning his Ph.D. from Princeton University. Vik has also worked as a Professor at Amherst College and Boston University but retired from teaching in 2015 to focus on personal research. He lives with his wife, Gita, and three daughters in Palo Alto, California, where he continues to teach via online courses for Coursera.

His Achievements

Vik has written books, published research papers, lectures, and conference talks on Graph Theory; Matroids; Network Analysis; Operations Research; Pareto Optimization. He has won the Guggenheim Fellowship in the field of Operations Research and received Best Paper Award in Graph Theory at the International Conference on Networks Applied to Computational Science.

He was also a recipient of Fellow of the American Statistical Society. He was also awarded the Fulbright Fellowship twice and the Sloan Fellowship once.

Vik Bansal has been a professor at several colleges and universities, has taught for over 30 years, and has spent much of his working career trying to improve the world. Vik Bansal InfraBuild is a Member of the Mont Pelerin Society, a founder of the International Operations Research Society, a Founding Member of the American Economic Association’s Journal on Mathematical Economics (AAEJME), and a Fellow of Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. Currently, He sits on its International Board as well.

Vik Bansal explains that an overwhelming number of people have been killed in the last two years because they were the targets of drone attacks. It is not something the US wants to go with since it involves killing innocent people, but in cases like these, it is sometimes justified. Mr. Bansal says that this could affect students taking part in his courses if they are given a “D” just because he has taught them what drones are, rather than how they can be used and to which because they can be used.
